Dr. Emily Stenseng, Medical Director

Dr. Emily

Dr. Emily Stenseng was born and raised in Texas’s Rio Grande Valley and ventured to California for college, earning degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Stanford University.  She returned to her home state for veterinary school at Texas A&M University.   After graduating Summa Cum Laude with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009, Dr. Stenseng joined JVAH.   In 2016 she assumed the role of Medical Director.  While she continues to see patients and perform surgeries, she also dedicates time to mentoring new doctors, training staff, collaborating with her colleagues, and ensuring that JVAH provides the highest quality of care and service.

Dr. Stenseng strives to continually learn and grow as a veterinarian, and she appreciates the wonderful variety that general veterinary practice provides.   She loves that every day is different and exciting.  Her special interests include dentistry, oncology, internal medicine, geriatrics, oncology, and soft tissue surgery.

The power of the human-animal bond is what drew Dr. Stenseng to this profession, and it still motivates her today.   She cares deeply for her patients and clients and feels honored to be a part of their lives.

Outside of work, Dr. Stenseng enjoys spending time with her family— her husband (Dusty), daughter (Skyler), son (River), and her two rescue dogs (a pitbull mix named Tilly and a Huskie/ Australian Kelpie mix named Zoey).  She loves singing, playing piano, cooking, reading, and doing yoga.
